2Wire 2701HG-D Setup Instructions

  1. Take the modem out of the packing box.

  2. Unplug the phone line from your computer’s dial-up modem and plug it into the DSL modem. (The correct port is marked in green)

  3. Take the yellow Ethernet cord out of the box and plug it into the port on the back of the DSL modem, and then into your computer.

  4. Plug the power supply that came with the modem into your surge suppressor and then in to the DSL modem.

  5. Install DSL filters on all other telephone lines in the house/building.

  6. On your computer desktop. Click Start

  7. Right Click the Internet Explorer icon.

  8. Click Internet Properties on the drop down menu.

  9. Click the Connections tab.

 

    

Make sure the dot is in the circle that says “Never dial a connection”.  Click the “LAN Settings” button.

Make sure none of the boxes have check marks, then click the OK button.

Be sure to Click the Apply button, then OK.

 

Configure the Modem

1.  Open your browser and enter 192.168.0.1/mdc in the address bar and click Go.

2.  Click Configure under Broadband Link on the left.

 

 

3.  Under DSL and ATM Settings set ATM Encapsulation to Routed LLC.

4.  Click Disabled under ATM PVC Search.

5.  Under Internet Connection Settings ― Connection and Authentication, Broadband connection should be Enabled and Connection Type

needs to be set to Routed IPoA.

6.  Under Internet Connection Settings ― Internet Address set to Manually configure internet address settings and enter the numbers you were given.

7.  Under Internet Connection Settings ― DNS and click Manually configure your DNS information and enter the DNS numbers you were given.

8.  Click Submit at the bottom.

 

 

9.  Your static IP and DNS settings should be displayed under ISP Details.
