Focus finished the Fall 2001 Trial Season in Colorado with a nice win in Open Puppy at the Northern Colorado Brittany Club Trial. She won with style going away. It wasn't even close. She had been getting better each week and finally put it all together with a nice promising AA performance running by herself in the last brace. Last seen by Jerry and the Judges well to the front and sailing over a rise as time and course both ran out.

Focus had been trialed little, not her fault but a result of economic conditions, but ran well whenever put on the ground. She had derby placements but we did not get her derby points, tough to do when she only got to run at one or two trials.

I got Focus broke and ready to run in trials but it is tough to campaign a dog when you do not have steady work. We kept working together and she kept getting better and better. Always just a sweet dog and a joy to be around. We bred her to FC/AFC Sniksoh Little Rascal and she produced a beautiful litter of 10 healthy pups on March 3, 2004. We called them all by camera names in keeping with the photographic theme. Many of these pups had a great hunting season with their new owners and we have had the pleasure of a few visits. She was a great mom.

As the job and economic situation was not getting better and after much agonizing I decided to sell Focus. It was a hard decision as she was all we had left from her mom, Moxie; however, I just could't see her waste her talents another season. This was a tough decision but I was not able to hunt as much as I would have liked and trialing was now out of the question. I found a great home for her and on September 11, 2004 she went to her new home in Idaho where she promptly made herself at home with the resident Rottweiler and her new family. She had a great hunting season with over 60 birds shot over her and a number of great retrieves to her credit. She really did a nice job and made her new owner happy and proud as she showed a number of other dogs how it was supposed to be done.

Focus contracted some virus which rendered her blind and then put her into seizure. After 5 days in intensive care she was showing no signs of improvement and was lovingly put down. At the end she could recognize her owners voice and weakly wag her tail, lift her leg slightly asking for a belly rub, which she truly loved, but there was no coming back.

I am gladdened by the thought that her last season was a great one. She lived to hunt and hunt she did. We will all miss you Focus.
