A complete archaeological survey has been conducted of the 1,200 acres at Indian Camp Ranch. This survey was done between 1990 and 1995 by Woods Canyon Archaeological Consultants. As a result of the survey, a total of 209 sites were located, recorded and mapped. Several of these sites had been previously recorded in the 1960's by the University of Colorado and in the 1980's by Crow Canyon Archaeological Center.

In addition to the work at Ladle House, archaeological excavation or testing has been conducted at five Anasazi sites at Indian Camp Ranch. A Basketmaker III "great pithouse" was tested in the southwest corner of the ranch in 1991. A Pueblo I habitation, the Duckfoot Site, was completely excavated by Crow Canyon between 1983-1987 (Lightfoot and Etzkorn 1993). A Pueblo II dwelling, the Seed Jar Site, was excavated by Woods Canyon in 1994. A Pueblo I-III dwelling, Hanson Pueblo, was partially excavated between 1990-1993 (Morris et al. 1993). A Pueblo III pottery kiln was excavated in the summer of 1995. |
