Is there a local number in my area?
-
For a list of local dialup numbers in areas all across Colorado, please check our Statewide Access Page and find your town or city in the dropdown list.
To get email, does my computer have to be on all the time?
-
No, you do not have to leave your computer on all the time to get email. You must go online long enough to get your mail. When someone sends you email, the message will be received and stored on the mail server. When you request your mail to be delivered to you, then the mail leaves the mail server and is placed into your computer.

I do not always get connected at 56k. Why is this?
Things that affect your connection speed are:
- According to most experts, the most important factor is the length and the quality of local loops involved. A local loop is the length of copper between your house and the phone company.
The wire between central stations is not really an issue, since phone companies make very sure that all station-to-station connections are well shielded, high quality connections. What we don't know at this time is the nature of the local loop between each of our users and their connection to their phone company's central station.
You can find out about the quality of your local loop by calling your local phone company. They should be able to tell you the distance with no problem. They can also check the quality of your local loop but they will charge you a fee to do so, so please check the price FIRST. If there is a problem with your local loop, maybe they can improve it.
- A second factor is the quality of the modems on each end and their compatibility. On our end, we use only USR and Hayes modems. These modems have been proven (you can check all this out for yourself on the net, by the way) to be most compatible across most brands of modems.
No single modem can be perfect with every other modem, but some are more compatible than others. USR and Hayes are rated highest in this regard. If you contact your modem manufacturer and tell them that you are connecting to a USR Sportster, they will give you the optimal setting to use to initialize your modem and explain to you how to use the new settings to initialize your modem automatically before making a PPP connection.
I have questions concerning my billing, who do I contact?
-
1. You may contact our billing department via E-mail;
2. Voice at: Please contact your local office for your dialup area.
How do I download a file with my browser when it asks what to do with it?
-
Click and hold down the mouse button until a pop-up window appears on the screen, select download to disk or save to disk, select where you want the file saved, and give it a name. Be sure you remember where you put it, or you'll have to search later to find it.
HINT: Create a folder named TEMP and use this folder for all downloaded files. This makes it easy to remember where to find the files.
I've trying to download Explorer or Netscape for the last 2 days. Near the end
of the downloading process, this message showed up: "Viewing Application Not Found".
This is the second time this has happened. What gives??
-
Based on the message, you have downloaded Netscape. Your web browser
produced the message when it completed the download. All web browsers assume
(unless you specify otherwise in the application's preferences) you are
downloading a document, or graphic file of some kind. Based on this, the
browser will try to "view" the file after the download. Your browser was just
trying to tell you that a program file cannot be viewed like a picture.
Where can I find information on "JAVA"?
-
Our web pages do not use Java, but many pages on the web are beginning to. You must have a browser that supports Java before you can see the results.
There is a lot of information concerning Java, and there are a number of resources on the Internet that discuss Java programming and uses. There are also many books available on the subject if you are interested in learning how to develop Java applications.
