Accessing Your Personal Home Page

The examples below will illustrate how to access your personal home page on Fone.Net. For this demonstration, assume your email address is "bugs@fone.net", and your password is "bunny1".

If you are using Internet Explorer, access your FTP url using the example below:

ftp://username:password@www.fone.net

For example:
ftp://bugs:bunny1@www.fone.net

Check to make sure you have a "web" folder, if not you will need to create one. Then double click the "web" folder to open it and drag & drop your entire site into the "web" folder.

Make sure your home page is either default.html, or index.html in order for it to be recognized as the home or starting page of your website.

To view your site online, go here:
http://www.fone.net/~username

For example:
http://www.fone.net/~bugs

If you are using WS FTP, click the "Connect" button, at the bottom left, and use these settings in the Session Properties:

Profile Name: (give this a name if you like-optional)
Host Name/Address: www.fone.net
Host Type: Automatic detect
User ID: bugs
Password: bunny1
Account: (leave this blank)
Comments: (leave blank)

Then, click OK and you should see 2 windows.

The window on your left is your machine, and the window on the right is the server (the remote side). Make sure you are in the "web" folder on the remote side (create a web folder is one doesn't already exist) and then find your files on your machine in the left window. Once you find your files, select them and then click the arrow between the 2 windows to move the files to the right window (server).

To view your site online, go here:
http://www.fone.net/~username

For example:
http://www.fone.net/~bugs

If you can't get a connection, be sure you are using "Passive" mode and remote port 21.
